A caries risk assesment will be conducted during your child's first dental appointment. This assesment will be a series of questions to determine the risk of tooth decay for your child. There are many factors that are taken into consideration before placing your child at low, moderate or high risk of tooth decay. These factors include diet, family and genetic background, primary caregivers, oral hygiene, orthodontics, social economic status, previous cavities, parental supervision, medical history, salivary flow and fluroide use. Once we have determined your child's risk factor, we can make our recommendations to their specific needs. Your child's risk assesment will be evaluated and updated at each recare visit.
